In the double exhibition by René Matić (born in Peterborough, UK, 1997) and Oscar Murillo (born in La Paila, Colombia, 1986), new and older works by both artists are shown, in some cases for the first time.
The presentation is woven into a suspended architecture consisting of empty canvases saturated with black colour by Murillo – a structure that enables moments of proximity between the works of the two artists. Matić’s new film and photographic works are based on research into Josephine Baker’s infamous arrival in Vienna in the late 1920s. Murillo shows new paintings from his decade-long project Frequencies and works on paper created on flights.
