The older pre-Roman Iron Age in large parts of Europe from around 800 BC is known as the Hallstatt Period, the Early Iron Age or the Hallstatt Culture. The uniqueness of the Hallstatt culture, one of the most important prehistoric cultures in Europe, forms the core of Austrian and European identity.
The findings and progress that have been made from the first discoveries to the present day are of fundamental importance for our understanding of early European history. It is therefore essential to bring these findings together in order to reflect on and discuss both the historical and current significance of Hallstatt culture.
The Culture and Congress Centre in Hallstatt offers an ideal location for such a symposium. Here, an atmosphere of reflection and exchange can be created that promotes the understanding and appreciation of Hallstatt culture.
