For some artists, isolation serves as a source of inspiration and a muse. Julia Lusser’s works emerge from these moments of isolation, in which emotional states are translated into material forms. During her stay in Skopje, everyday life itself becomes the material. Found and discarded fragments – particularly plastic – bear traces of their original function and are layered, cut and only partially secured. In this process, the materials lose their unambiguous nature and oscillate between presence and dissolution. The works remain deliberately unstable, revealing states that lie between stability and decay. The sky becomes a recurring point of reference – something that is the same everywhere, yet never appears quite the same. It holds the possibility of connectedness, whilst it remains open whether this feeling leans more towards freedom or loneliness.
