SCALING MEMORIES creates a space in which memory can be experienced as an open structure – materially, visually and in motion. The exhibition brings together four artistic approaches that conceive of memory as a fluid trace between personal experience and collective imagery. Through painting, photography, video, object art and textile art, fragile constellations emerge between proximity and distance – ranging from reduced gestures to materialised traces of time. The works by Anita Steinwidder, Christiane Spatt, Dora Mai and Mona Radziabari demonstrate how individual experiences continue to resonate in forms, materials and atmospheres, and encounter one another anew within the shared exhibition space. Starting from the question of how memory is inscribed in materials, images and bodies, the exhibition explores processes of scaling: enlargement and reduction, condensation and fragmentation, repetition and displacement. Memory thus appears not as a static archive, but as a dynamic state between intimacy and the public sphere, biography and social history.
