Since the late 1970s, jewellery artist Anna Heindl and sculptor and photographer Manfred Wakolbinger have been an artistic couple. They are now exhibiting their work together at the kunsthaus muerz, with the support and assistance of their friends Peter Kogler and Hans Bellmer. “With A Little Help From My Friends” – this song title from Joe Cocker’s performance at the Woodstock Festival is the title of the exhibition and a synonym for this exhibition project. Thus, this exhibition is also about encounters and collaboration. Peter Kogler has designed display cases and the interiors of these ‘stages’ specifically for the presentation of Anna Heindl’s jewellery sculptures. Manfred Wakolbinger has long had a strong affinity for the work of Hans Bellmer. Over the years, he has collected a number of the artist’s graphic works. When he noticed how the influence of these works surrounding him was growing ever stronger, he decided to create a series of works based on them. Drawing on Bellmer’s line work, the series “Circulations” took shape, and is being shown for the first time in this scope and context at kunsthaus muerz.
