The group exhibition at Galerie Centrum features works by Julia Cimafiejeva, Klaus-Dieter Hartl and Nicole Wogg. Julia Cimafiejeva creates Dada-inspired visual collages designed to pose puzzles and raise questions to which there is not necessarily an answer. The works of this Belarusian author and artist are an expression of rootlessness and longing, whilst also brimming with humour, irony and laconicism. In his collages (1983–2026), Klaus-Dieter Hartl explores the interplay between photography, material, imagination and, in particular, the phenomenon of memory. Hartl’s works offer multi-layered perspectives on reality, the real and the imaginary, and invite viewers to perceive the world in a new, poetic way and to discover new ways of interpreting visual information. Nicole Wogg cuts up images, texts and fragments of everyday life and humorously reassembles them into new, fragmentary narratives. Her works question societal visual cultures, patterns of perception and the construction of reality. What is cut out of the collages remains part of the story: as ‘preserved memories’, the fragments are collected and kept in preserving jars.
