The posters selected for COMMON STORY. United in Art offer a thematic overview of the association’s and the building’s history spanning over 160 years. The focus is on temporary and international exhibitions, as well as the Künstlerhaus as a hub for networking. The exhibition also highlights the significance of the poster as a medium of propaganda. At the same time, the poster is presented as an art object in its own right. As a design artefact, it documents developments from Art Nouveau to contemporary art. As a medium that combines information, design and public space, the exhibition poster also serves as a projection screen for social, aesthetic and political trends. COMMON STORY traces the evolution of visual culture over more than a century. The exhibition was curated by the entire team at the Künstlerhaus Association.
